Concrete Pool Construction: Shotcrete vs Gunite

Some companies still use gunite in their pool construction. Gunite is concrete and sand mixed on-site, and delivered at lower PSI. Shotcrete is premixed which ensures high strength and durability, and is delivered in perfect proportions right into the pool form. Gunite is often delivered in less than ideal mix proportions and suffers a rebound effect that causes poor adhesion to the sides of the pool as it's being applied.

Ocean Blue Pools and Landscaping only uses Shotcrete, with virtually no rebound effect. Shotcrete is premixed by a professional concrete company to be a minimum of 3000 PSI (usually testing out at 5000 PSI).

All steps, benches, and skimmers receive the same quality as the rest of the pool. Because of this, Ocean Blue is able to offer a lifetime warranty on the concrte bowl of your pool. Always ask your pool contractor if they use shotecrete or gunite.

Spas
A spa, or hot tub, can be your relaxing and theraputic retreat. Design considerations are whether to keep the spa the same elevation as the pool, giving a clean, integrated look, or to raise the spa above the pool, providing a spillway water feature.

We can finish the exposed raised pool wall with a combonation of tile, stone vaneer, and/or stucco. You're probably familiar with the standard venturi jets found spas. Jets can be upgraded to offer different functions.
